STRUT WEST DUNBARTONSHIRE

STRUT is a night time performance and projection parade shining the light on 5 talented dancers with a connection to Inverclyde whose personal choreographies reflect the celebratory energy of the town with Funk, Lyrical, Irish, Hip Hop and Ballet styles in the mix.

These talented movers and shakers were selected from a wide-ranging Open Call, with the help of a community panel. The rotating one-performer parade weave its way around locations in Dumbarton town centre and the Faifley Neighborhood of Clydebank with spectators watching from the pavement, waving from their windows or following the event and dancing along.

Parking: if coming by car, please refrain from parking close to the parade route to avoid blocking the view of the performance.

DANCERS BIOS

WIKTORIA

17 year old Wiktoria’s favourite styles are Commercial and Hip Hop but also embraces styles such as Ballet, Commercial, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Jazz and Freestyle. She loves to dance because it sets her free and is an escape from reality. Wiktoria says: “Dance has been a part of me since a very early age and it will forever be my passion. I am so excited to be a part of STRUT because I love to perform and I will love to dance with many other people doing loads of other styles and share the floor with 4 other amazing dancers. This is the first place I can call home as it is the first house my parents bought and will forever be my family home. “

 
 

TEGAN

Tegan (9) has danced since she was 2 years old at Alana Rose Irish Dance Company. Last October she won her first ever title where she was awarded U8 British Open Champion. Since then she has also become U8 Scottish Open Champion, U9 All Ireland Champion and during a recent visit to Belgium became the U9 International World champion.

Tegan says: “My teacher Alana helps me to feel like a brilliant dancer, I am a passionate and calm performer. I love Irish dancing because it makes me feel happy, good and productive. I am so excited to be part of STUT and happy to be trying new opportunities. I have always lived in West Dunbartonshire with my family, I also go to school and dance class here. I love living in West Dunbartonshire.”

ISABELLA

Izzy (25) likes to fuse ballet and contemporary techniques in their movement style and while improvising. They grew up and first learned to dance in West Dumbartonshire before moving to London and dancing there. Izzy says: “I am really happy to be performing for Strut and for the community where it all started for me. Dancing means a lot to me and professional or not I believe it’s a wonderful way to connect with yourself and the world around you.”

SALAHDINE

Salahdine "Salah or Sal for short" is 67 years old. He was raised in a house where his parents and 10 brothers and sisters also danced. He lived in London (where he danced in nightclubs) before he moved to Dumbarton in 1981. Since then he has always danced when out with friends or at weddings etc. He is married and has two grown-up children.

Sal says: “I dance to a wide variety of music, and my preferred music to dance to is funk and soul. By joining STRUT, I intended to push myself out of my comfort zone as it is my first performance, I am a bit nervous about it but also looking forward to it.”

KYLE

Kyle is 16 years old and lives with his Mum, Dad, 2 sisters and dog. He has been dancing for 8 years. Kyle says: “My life has always revolved around dance it’s my escape from stress. My favourite styles are lyrical and hip hop. I am a competitive dancer and compete in competitions all over Scotland. I am excited to be part of STRUT as I believe it will be a good opportunity to be seen, grow my confidence and to help my upcoming future as a dancer.”

Gal's work spreads across many industries from being in movies, to releasing music worldwide, working the local stand up comedy circuit & helping run 1 of Scotland's most exciting pizzerias, Bangin' Pizza! 

You can expect lots of energy when Big Gal hits the stage!
